Taste: A subtly spicy blend of green tea, similar to salted caramel, with the earthy sweetness of spices, piquant rose petals and creaminess of crushed almonds.
This tea is a light and delicious drink at any time of day.
To prepare with boiling method: Add 2 teaspoons of the tea to 1 cup of cold water on the stove. Heat to the boil and then simmer for 5 minutes while stirring briskly. Stir briskly to break down the green tea and introduce the chemical reaction with the bicarb soda. This gives the green tea its characteristic pink colour and salted caramel flavour.
Turn heat to low and add one cup of cold milk and bring slowly to hot. Add sweetening to taste.
Traditionally, Kashmiri Pink Chai is served with crushed almonds or pistachios sprinkled on top of the froth.
